Carina Brandes ist 1982 in Braunschweig geboren, lebt und arbeitet in Leipzig.
Mit reduzierten Aufbauten, Doppelbelichtungen und ungewöhnlichen Perspektiven erzeugen die Fotoarbeiten von Carina Brandes eine surreale Welt, die an Positionen der feministischen Avantgarde denken lässt. Gleichzeitig greifen ihre poetischen Schwarz-Weiß- Aufnahmen auch die aktuellen Diskurse um Körper, Geschlecht und Schönheit auf.
2017 war sie Preisträgerin der Villa – Romana. Ihre Arbeiten werden national und international ausgestellt.

Carina Brandes was born in Braunschweig in 1982, lives and works in Leipzig.
With reduced superstructures, double exposures and unusual perspectives, Carina Brandes' photographic works create a surreal world that makes one think of different positions of the feminist avant-garde. At the same time, her poetic black-and-white photographs also take up the current discourses on the body, gender and natural beauty. In 2017, she was a winner of the Villa - Romana award. Her works are shown nationally and internationally.
